Giving Bequests

Many people don’t like to think about death, particularly their own.  Most of us are familiar with the reasons to have a valid Will, but approximately 50% of Australians just never get around to it.  Sadly, we all know that an accident or an illness can occur at any time to anyone.
Death is one of the few certainties of this world and when it occurs a Will can help make things easier for those you care about

How a Bequest can help:
A bequest is a gift that is included in a Will.  A   bequest can be made at the time you are making your Will or it can be amended by codicil to your Will at any time.  Making a bequest is a simple and inexpensive procedure.

Bequests are often referred to as ‘the gift that never stops giving’.  When you remember Holy Spirit Care Services in your Will, you become an ‘Honoured Friend’ a partner in our Mission and Values and leave a lasting legacy for future generations.

A Will—A Legacy—A Bequest
A will represents your last wishes.  It is your legacy—the opportunity to acknowledge and provide security for your loved ones.

Your Will can help those you value most—your friends and family.  It can also present you with an opportunity to provide gifts to charities close to your heart.  Giving through your estate may be the only time you are able to offer a significant gift.  This type of gift is known as a bequest.

It is recommended you seek the advice of a solicitor when preparing your Will as there are strict rules about how it is to be signed and witnessed.  Evidence may be needed to confirm that your capacity to make a Will was not impaired at the time it was made.

Ensure your Will is valid.
You should take legal advice to ensure that your Will is validly executed and that you have adequately provided for those people for whom you should provide. If you do not make adequate provision for certain people, your Will may be challenged.

Wills are often simple, quick and can be inexpensive to make.
Holy Spirit Care Services recommends that your Will be prepared by a solicitor, trustee company or The Public Trustee.

If required we may be able to assist by identifying one of these in your area.
